Have you noticed how the beautiful the sky is when the light shines through the clouds? Or the soft petals of the flowers that are blooming in the spring. There is something so peaceful when listening to the gentle sound of the water flowing in a steam. And hearing the beautiful tone from the birds singing quietly in the trees. I find it breathtaking to see the details in the Lord's creation.
Even in chaos and suffering, there are still blessings to be found. At this moment, take a minute or two to breathe and listen. And before you continue going through your checklist, pray. I know there is so much pain and suffering right now. I know it may feel easier to continue going through the day, but there are times we just need to stop. The Lord hears your worries and He knows that the pain you may be feeling.
A friend recently told me that "tomorrow is a new day." And she was right. Even if we are going through suffering right now, it doesn't mean tomorrow will be the same.
So at this moment, even if you are tired, look for the blessings. Maybe it's a hug from a loved one or calling a friend. Maybe it's reading a book or taking a walk in a garden. It could be something as simple as admiring a view from your window. These are all beautiful things.
When I started to dig deeper into this message of a new day, I thought of the scripture from Psalm 118:24.
"This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24
Let's reflect on those words for a moment. How do we rejoice when there is pain? Think of the worries and pain at night. Maybe negative thoughts continue to run through your head when all you need is rest. But, tomorrow is a reminder that there is always a new day. Even right now is a new day because the sun has come up and will set later in the evenings.
I cannot promise you that tomorrow will not include hardships. The Lord knows there is so much pain in our world right now. And it may feel challenging to rejoice at this moment. But, I encourage you to look for the blessings even in the suffering.
There is this beautiful song, that inspired me when I was writing this article. The song "Blessings" by Laura Story. Have you heard it before? It has a special place in my heart. When I listen to the lyrics, I think of the beautiful message of how God hears us. He doesn't look away when we are hurting. And the answers may look different than we expected but can be a blessing.
"'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise"
Blessings - Laura Story
There are blessings that we can see even in the nights of pain. It may come through raindrops or flowers that are blooming at the beginning of spring. In this season, I encourage you to hold on to hope. And remember there are blessings of a new day.
